Glacier Pothos

The glacier pothos, a cousin of the popular marble queen pothos, is a delicate variety boasting beautiful green and white hues. It's often mistaken for its close relatives, the n'joy pothos and pearls and jade pothos, as they all look quite similar to the untrained eye. However, you can differentiate the glacier pothos by its more silvery-green coloring compared to the n'joy or pearls and jade. Its leaves are also more oval-shaped, and it's considered rarer and harder to find.

Like most pothos plants, the glacier pothos is an excellent choice for indoor gardening, as it's quite hardy and requires minimal upkeep. It thrives in typical household conditions and can withstand some neglect if necessary. Additionally, this versatile plant looks lovely in hanging baskets, tabletop planters, or cascading down from a wall shelf. However, it's essential to note that, like all pothos varieties, the glacier pothos is toxic to pets.

Glacier Care:

• This pothos thrives in abundant bright light. It prefers a spot with several hours of bright, indirect sunlight, although it can also tolerate medium light. Unlike many other pothos varieties that can survive in low light, the glacier pothos requires more light. Insufficient light can cause it to become leggy and lose its variegation due to its highly patterned leaves.
• Plant your glacier pothos in a soil mix that drains well but also holds some moisture. A blend of organic and mineral elements in equal parts, like indoor potting soil and perlite, is ideal. You can easily create this mixture at home using supplies from your local nursery or garden center. While indoor potting soil typically contains some perlite, adding extra perlite before planting your glacier pothos will prevent soil compaction over time and ensure sufficient drainage for the plant's roots.
• Allow the top 2 to 3 inches of soil to dry out before watering thoroughly. This pothos likes regular watering but can handle dry periods and should be given a chance to dry slightly between waterings to avoid root rot. Always ensure excess water drains from the pot's drainage holes during each watering to prevent overwatering and root rot.
